Who is Mrs. Turner?

I was born and raised in Texas, before my husband of 16 years brought me to Missouri! I finished my elementary education degree at Missouri State, with an emphasis in early childhood.  I love teaching and truly believe it to be a calling.  Throughout my six years of experience I found out that my true passion is preschool and kindergarten.

Besides teaching, my two boys, Hudson (10) and Marshall (8) keep me very busy! The order of our lives go something like this: God/Church, family, school, sports! I believe in building strong relationships with my students, so during the school year they are like my additional children! I pour my time and energy into them and their learning.

When I'm not teaching, my "me time" will usually consist of reading, watching a movie, cooking, sewing, or shopping.  I love hanging out with my husband and the boys as much as possible!

My Early Childhood thoughts...

Learning through play...

A portion of our day in Kindergarten is spent in organized and free play.  When you see a child playing it doesn't look like much, but they are actually learning so much! They are building their social and communication skills, as well as problem solving, practicing fine and gross motor skills, and so much more!

The importance of a positive start...

One of the reasons I love Kindergarten so much is getting the opportunity to instill a love of school and learning in young children.  One of my biggest roles is creating a happy and positive learning environment where my students feel safe and confident.
